Caribbean Studies Examination: Questions 6 and 7
Within this paper, I have answered questions 6 and 7 by examining Itwaru's stories, "Ball", "Shakti", "Maze-Run", and "Matin". In question 6, I examine the unsettling ways in which "Matin" represents an IndoCaribbean woman playing a central role in her culture's survival while also investigating "Maze-Run's" artistic examination of institutional racism. In question 7, I examine Itwaru's artistic representation of the Wismar incident in order to highlight some examples of AfroCaribbean and IndoCaribbean hostilities before finding reasons to explain those hostilities within "Shakti" and Slavoj Zizek's "Plague of Fantasies".
