The MMSI Center: A Grant Proposal
This 4-page graduate paper creates a proposal asking for funding for a project. Specifically, this paper presents a proposal to the National Institute of Mental Health for the creation of a drop-in center for mothers seeking long-term treatment for mental health issues. This paper notes that the made up agency, The Mother Mental Support Initiative (MMSI), seeks to build this center and run it using volunteer and professional services, since many women who suffer from mental health issues which require much hospitalization or treatment are mothers. This paper notes that this problem is a unique problem for a number of reasons; especially since mothers may find that they require additional assistance in order to care for their children while they seek treatment. Mothers may also find that their role as mothers causes them unique anxieties when seeking some treatments. This paper argues that the MMSI center is a good solution to the problem, since the center would promote assistance - both group and individual - too many women and would concurrently provide a place for education and research for the complex problem. This paper outlines the need for a one-time grant of $80 000 from the National Institute of Mental Health in order to commence the center. Finally, this paper provides an exposition of the name, history, purpose, and activities of the Mother Mental Support Initiative.
